The word “wizzer” is a slang term for coffee grinders in Australia. Cannabis users down under use coffee grinders to prepare weed for their smoking sessions. Wizzers grind weed faster and more efficiently than using scissors or hand grinders. When coffee grinders are used, it makes a “whizzing” or “whirring” sound which is what inspired the name for Aussies.
There isn’t much historical documentation as to when the term “wizzing” was first used. All that is known, is Aussies use this term instead of saying coffee grinders.
When you are at a sesh in Australia, chopping weed can take a bit of time and most usually want to smoke as soon as possible. Coffee grinders make that process a lot quicker so everyone can have a good time quicker.
If you’re not careful, wizzers may grind your weed too fine so it’s a good idea to keep checking inside the grinder every few wizzes or so to make sure it’s not turning your bud into literal dust.
Another reason Aussies love using wizzers is that the bowl where the weed is placed to be grinded, collects resin or “dusties” which cannabis users love to save and smoke later.
Dusties are fine plant matter that builds up in a coffee grinder after being wizzed up. It has considerable amounts of THC and CBD making it desirable for some marijuana lovers.
I didn’t know wizzer was an Aussie term. I thought every one that uses coffee grinders anywhere in the world called them that. Then again, I haven’t been anywhere outside of Australia haha
